29.01 FAIR HOUSING
(1) Authority.
This ordinance is adopted pursuant to the provisions of Section 66.433, Wisconsin Statutes and shall be known as the Fair Housing Ordinance.
(2) Purpose and Indent.
The Village Board of the Village of Deerfield recognizes its responsibilities under Section 101.22, Wisconsin Statutes, and endorses the concepts of fair and open housing for all persons and prohibition of discrimination as described in Section 101.22, Wisconsin Statutes. The purpose of this ordinance is to protect the welfare, health, place, dignity, and human rights of the residents of the Village.
(3) Implementation and Enforcement.
(a) The officials and employees of the Village of Deerfield shall assist in the orderly prevention and removal of all discrimination in housing within the Village of Deerfield by implementing the authority and enforcement procedures set forth in Section 101.22, Wisconsin Statutes.
(b) The Village Clerk shall maintain forms for complaints to be filed under Section 101.22, Wisconsin Statues, and shall assist any person alleging a violation thereof in the Village of Deerfield to file a complaint thereunder with the Wisconsin Department of Industry, Labor and Human Relations for enforcement of Section 101.22, Wisconsin Statutes.
